Joanne Bernstein Garden Design

Process

INITIAL CONSULATION

To begin the process of creating a new garden, Joanne first determines the broad scope of a project. She will walk through the garden with the client, exploring their wish list, likes and dislikes as well as discussing a rough budget and possible time-scales. From this meeting Joanne will draw up a client brief. The purpose is to create outdoor living spaces that both complement and enhance the client’s home and are tailored to meet their needs.

SURVEY

The garden is carefully measured, all existing features recorded and the soil tested. Knowing the exact conditions of the site ensures we create a garden that will flourish.

PLANS

Joanne will produce a concept drawing and sketches for discussion. From there she will draw up a detailed Presentation Plan for the client’s final approval. She will then consider plants that are suitable for the soil, aspect and climate, taking into account year-round structure, seasonal colour, focal points and screening. A Planting Plan will show the locations, sizes and quantities of plants.

TENDERING

Joanne can send drawings and specifications to recommended landscape contractors for pricing.

PROJECT MONITORING

Once construction begins, Joanne can make regular site visits to monitor progress and ensure the design is implemented correctly and to the highest standards.

PLANT SOURCING

Working with trusted nurseries, Joanne can source and order plants, take delivery on site, and set them out for planting.

AFTERCARE

Joanne can draw up a detailed maintenance schedule and advise on the on-going care of the garden as the garden matures.
